There are no shortcuts in life. You have to go through what you have to go through. There is no way around that. Like traffic jams we try to avoid what we consider obstacles but find that we just prolong the agony of what we resist to learn. Obstacles in life make us patient, observant and determined. Just have the courage to go through it.
On our way to Delhi Airport after our visit in Agra, our driver hit traffic about half an hour still away from our destination. It was obvious that this man, gentle as he is, despised traffic. He avoided traffic with all his might, to the extent that he made deviations every time the congestion on the road became too much to bear. When he once again turned away from the traffic, my husband’s curiosity made him follow our route on his iPhone GPS. To his surprise he noticed that we were heading back in the direction of Agra instead of Delhi! I noticed that the sun on my side of the vehicle, was now was on the opposite side! We asked our driver why we are heading in the wrong direction. He muffled under his breath that he knew a shortcut that would take us through less traffic. It turned out that our two-hour detour took us through many small towns that added more traffic jams we had to bear, because of the hour of the day. Our journey became an excruciating event, my worst nightmare, of fighting more traffic that we would have if we stayed on the first route. Exhausted after a six-hour drive which should have taken us two and a half hours, we finally reached the airport, having to face and be ready for a ten-hour flight, six-hour layover and another eight-hour flight!
